Abstract: | A coastal zone pollution monitoring programme for developing countries, the Land~Ocean Contamination Study (LOCS), was initiated by the British Geological Survey (BGS) under funding from the United Kingdom Overseas Development Administration in 1995. The central objective of LOCS is the provision of contaminant monitoring, impact amelioration and integrated coastal zone management protocols to meet the specific social, technical and economic requirements of tropical developing regions. |
