The importance of the Lates niloticus fishery in Nyanza Gulf of Lake Victoria is examined briefly. Findings show there to be a global stock of the species in the gulf. Lates feeds upon Caridina, Engraulicypris and Haplochromis species; success of the Lates population depends on the three species.en_US
