Report on Training Needs Assessment for the Western Indian Ocean Region

Abstract

This report was prepared with input from individual experts from Kenya, Tanzania, Comoros, Seychelles and South Africa who provided reports and took time to fill in questionnaires distributed during the survey. The authors express their gratitude to them for their comprehensive input without which this report would not have been possible. Funding for this survey was provided by the UNEP-GEF WIO-LaB Project entitled ”Addressing land-based activities in the Western Indian Ocean region” with the aim of developing a regional training and educational programme to enhance awareness on the impacts of land based activities on the coastal and marine environment. The authors also acknowledge support from the Nairobi Convention Secretariat under whose auspices UNEP-GEF WIO-LaB Project is implemented. The staff members of the WIO-LaB PMU are also acknowledged for assistance/guidance provided in the execution of this assignment.
